At Home Call Center Review - Transcom

Work at home call centers are a new type of job that has sprung up in the past couple years.  It seems a wide variety of companies prefer to outsource these types of jobs to people who can work in the comfort of their own home instead of in a large office building full of cubicles.  There are a wide variety of call center jobs out there.  Today I would like to review Transcom.

What is it?

Transcom is a virtual call center headquartered in the US.  They hire people to work from home across the US handling in-bound calls only.

How are calls handled?

Calls are routed through the internet so you don’t have to have a dedicated phone line.  This is a huge bonus because it means one less expense on your end. 


You are paid per hour.  This is another big perk because it means you aren’t forced to try and sprint through calls.  Instead you can work on helping the caller and not have to worry about your pay.  Pay can vary depending on what days and hours you work but most people start out around $9 per hour. 

Employee or Freelance:

You are hired as an employee, not an independent contractor which means you have less of a headache when dealing with taxes.


You are expected to work 5 days a week between 32 and 38 hours. 


The reviews are quite positive online especially for a work at home call center job.  You can check out some of them here. 

Most people find them a good place to work with quality support.  When I read through reviews I usually focus on things like complaints about management or issues with not receiving the correct pay.  With call centers you can have a good or bad experience each day depending on your callers.  However having good management and not having to worry about receiving a paycheck can go a long way to keeping your moral up every day.

If you get hired you will have to complete a paid training course and then you will be ready to start.
